Doing things right and in sympathy with our environment is at the heart of what we do at Decorum Taste. From well-chosen local suppliers to baking in batches to minimise energy consumption, we keep sustainability at the fore of our operations.
It's Just What We Do...
With our production facilities based on the edge of the South Downs National Park, we’re in an ideal setting to be at one with nature.
With our kitchen powered primarily from an array of 30 rooftop Solar Panels combined with a dedicated commercial twin Battery Storage Plant, we actively seek to use our own renewable energy as best we can. Our cakes are, by and large, baked by the energy of nature’s sunlight and naturally taste delicious!
Offering a wide range of allergen-friendly baked goods, many of our free-from options contain sustainable natural plant-based alternative ingredients, which we are proud to say also create the most wonderful of cake flavours.
And as for food waste – we strive for there to be none. Where offcuts and scraps are sometimes made, a local brood of lovely chickens are only to happy to enjoy the odd treat (but never too much though!).
Our recycling and reuse efforts are paramount to our business. Decorum Taste are extremely conscious to minimise waste in all areas. We actively work with our suppliers to ensure any packaging materials are fully recyclable and wherever possible only card or paper. And where we are packing our cakes to be sent or transported, we too seek solutions that will not contribute to land-fill. For example, our taster boxes are fully recyclable, along with the envelopes or outer boxes we send them in.
We also work hard to ensure the cleaning products and processes we follow are in line with promoting a sustainable future. We select cleaners and chemicals that minimise environmental impact, and strictly follow recommended guidance from the Food Standards Agency in terms of our cleaning processes.
